Mona Darwich-Gatto is an Arab-American who loves country music. Arriving from Hawaii, she has moved around with her husband, a former U.S. Marine. Mona also writes in Portuguese and Arabic. Today she comments on local and international issues with a unique perspective based on her life experiences.
When waiting for a bus to me was like Linus waiting for the big pumpkin to arrive on Halloween night. At times I felt like a kid waiting for her big present to arrive.
Also, I learned that resumes need to be short and sweet, just like the blogs. In other words, resumes need to be specific to the type of job I was looking for.
Yes...Ramadan, American style!
Usually the first 3 days are the hardest, then at the end of Ramdan, I want to continue fasting.
How many times you have heard, "Oh, that doesn't happen in Rancho Sahuarita, it is safe here, that will never happen here..." Wake up!
Hi Robert!
No. The menu at Luxor have a variety of mediterranean dishes including kefta kabab, shawerma and tabouli.
Just added to the menu, there are also egyptian dishes b/c the owners and cook are Egyptians.
Molokhyyia is off the menu, but because I asked the owner if he takes special orders, I took the deal.
Luxor is located on Campbell avenue just after Prince.
Oh dear Lea...I wish I was there for you. I am glad you were able to call 911 and I hope you recuperate to your full health.
If you ever are in doubt and need help and can't find anybody, call me, don't hesitate.
Thanks Anna...I am really looking forward to our first meeting with other moms right here in Sahuarita.
Wow...a Mohawk! Yes, pictures please!!!
Habibati Natalie,
Yes, thanks for your encouraging words and wisdom.
Sometimes I forget it is okay to not be perfect. I remember when I used to have the house all cleaned and spotless once a week(before my bambinos arrived). Now, I clean a portion of the house as I go day after day because I know I am never going to be able to clean the entire house at once ;-)
You are right...the energy is very important. I learned since my surgery that my bambinos listen to me without me being negative, it works wonders. I was not able to speak, so gesturing or saying one word or two is enough to get them going.
I feel sometimes too that I am burned out because since I helped my mom raise my siblings and I mean, I really ran our home, I am doing this again and feels like "geesh, I thought all my experience was great to be the best mom I can be" until I talked to a therapist and he told me that coming from big families, sometimes the daughters are burned out when it comes to taking care of her own kids in addition to having limited patience because it feels I have done it already once in my lifetime.
I know I am the best mom I can be and I love my bambinos...I am counting the days that my little one calms down just like Khalil did by the age of 3.
I learned I can't make them happy all the time, they need to learn early that somethings we have to deal without and like you said...they are just high energy toddlers.
I need to smile and remember they are my two blessings.
Thanks...if it was up to me, I would never cut his curls ;-)
Wow...i want to go there! Great photo.
Awwww!

Lol...I thought so. Well, nice meeting you! You inspired me to start posting again.
