Meal time for the Mourning Dove chicks now 8 days old. The babies are exclusively fed "crop milk" which is made up of high protein and fat filled cells from the lining of the parents' crops. Pigeons, doves, and some other birds do this. The photo was taken through a window and the doves were not disturbed, though they have become very used to us coming and going.
