Both Weitz, who played Mick Belker on "Hill Street Blues," and Herd, who played Dennis Sheridan on "T.J. Hooker," criticized a program by then-President Ronald Reagan establishing federal narcotics task forces. Weitz called it a "token gesture." The men donated their time and spent two days signing autographs and talking with children about crime prevention.
