Serena Williams was fined a record $82,500 for her U.S. Open tirade and could be suspended from that tournament if she has another “major offense” at any Grand Slam in the next two years, Grand Slam administrator Bill Babcock told The Associated Press on Monday.

Serena is the most unsportsmanlike tennis player ever. She is just classless. Her sister Venus is a better person, but not that great herself.

Agree with you kenwen. If Serena's actions offend, then don't watch her televised matches. Don't support her with ratings or with your money. I did the same with McEnroe years ago, and I never returned to men's tennis.

What she said was no worse than what John McEnroe said during his playing days.
I hope she walks away from the Tennis Grand Slam. She draws a crowd and makes money for Tennis. Its a entertainment business, just like all other sports have become. Try and let them make money without her.

True, McEnroe was no better. But beyond the fiscal aspects of tennis, there is still the sportsmanlike attitude that they all have to display especially if they are role-models to youth.
I'm not sure if imposing a fine on her was worthwhile, because all it teaches kids is that I can act irresponsible and throw some money back to you and it will be okay...perhaps being prohibited from playing in one grand slam would have been appropriate.

Serena is a childish, spoiled brat who was having her a** handed to her by Kim Clijsters, when she took it out on the linesperson. They should have suspended her from the Open this year!

10. This has nothing to do with Obama. Fixated much, Tom?
15. She's being fined because rather than disagreeing with the line judge, she went off on the judge and threatened her with violence because she didn't like the call. By the way, tennis isn't football; to compare the two is really rather stupid.

seems only money will keep her mouth shut. Intelligence, being a lady, and having class is not her thing.
