Your right Lloyd Sell there are some really down home great people here, and I like to talk about them often. Most don't notice them, and they don't hang around long enough to be thanked. Still they are there when someone falls or gets hurt. Someone needs a hand or a handout. While someone else complains about the trash somewhere they just clean it up, and you can see them with a friendly smile as you go by.

whoosh
Letter writer Dave Peterson criticizes El Tour riders who deliberately litterd on the route.
whoosh, whoosh
Come on, Dave. Let them lead their Walter Mitty lives. For just one day, let them pretend that they are just like Lance Armstrong, and entitled to special privileges.

Breast-cancer cartoon by Fitz was offensive
David Fitzsimmons' cartoon on Wednesday was in poor taste, very hurtful and should never have been published. How insensitive this topic is; especially at this time of the year when so many people have lost family members, faced a cancer diagnosis or are mourning dear ones from deaths other than cancer. I am surprised the Star allowed this horrid "cartoon." Have we run out of positive topics?

Come on now Dave, aren't you aware of the god like status the left have bestowed on their insightful, artsy one.
All hail Fitz!
As long as what he spews contains "thought provoking" commentary that causes each of us to "pause" and consider his perspective, which apparently the left find enlightened, all is acceptable.
I for one would appreciate a cartoonist with a "different" political perspective that helps balance the generally predictable liberal world view old Fitzy
foists upon those who glance at his offerings.
Maybe the ADS could alter the format to have such a person's cartoons shown side by side, to keep the half that aren't amused or enlightened by the "prize" of the left, placated.
But that action would likely cause the sensitive lefties to want to take their ball and run home to mommy.

It's pretty obvious there will be no museum district west of I-10. The city council managed to kill that with their incompetance. Do we really need to build a 'trolley to nowhere'?

"University High School succeeds because parents, faculty and students value education and have high expectations."
Carl Maass
You are exactly right Carl, a good education starts in the home when the child is very young. Before kids even enter kindergarten, they should have been taught the basics in reading writing and math by their parents/siblings.
Instilling a love for reading is one of the best things parents can do for their children. Then, when the kids enter school, the parents should stay involved with the kids and their activities. Sadly, too many parents don't do this today.

I second #1. Tucsonans are overwhelmingly friendly and helpful without regard to age, wealth, or skin color. Most people will gladly strike up a conversation or lend a hand to any one else.

Re: Rio ???
Do we really know if the voters actually approved this project ? Or could the election results have been flipped ?
