Women are owed an honest assessment of the best scientific evidence.

With this said absolutely no "honest assessments" are provided. Such as, how many women's lives were saved because of mammograms who were in their 40s. As expected, an editorial preparing us for reduced medical care under a new health care regimen, which is essence states, "We don't really need all those life saving procedures and tests."

The media now seem to be flooding us with stories about how we don't need the health care to which we have become accustomed.

It's a prerequisite for an orderly transition to Socialized Medicine, and the Communists in charge are licking their chops. These people have no conscience.

It's everyone's duty to take responsibility for the care and nurturing of their body. That means don't smoke, eat healthy foods, get off the couch and exercise, note changes, pains and see your doctor.
Sheesh.

Many women in their 40's today wouldn't be here had they not had mammograms in their 30's. Even the democrats, including the Secy of Health and Human Resources Sebelius, are backing off this idiotic recommendation.

#4: I eat properly, I exercise, I see my doctor regularly. However, my breast cancer was not found by self-exam nor could my doctor find it. The cancer was detected during my annual mammogram and pinpointed with a follow-up ultra sound. The location of it made it physically impossible to feel it by self-exam. There was no pain, no change in my breast, no symptom to send me to the doctor.

So, do NOT tell me that annual checkups, be it mammogram or prostate for men, are not necessary. My annual mammogram saved my life.

Thank you Charlotte!

I wanted to say just that, but your words carry far more weight than mine ever good.

May you stay well for many years to come.

I am sure my 48 year old sister mother of a 9 year old was glad to have her mammogram in her 40s her cancer
was detected by this simple test. I have always had this test done every year since my 42 birthday even if I had to pay out of my pocket. My health insurance only paid for it every other year.

#7 Thanks Sandra. I get very upset when other people sort of poo-poo the importance of annual mammos!! I've been clean for almost 7 years now and thank my lucky stars.

i wonder...is this "preventative services task force" made up of men, women, or both? i notice they didn't say prostate screening has become unneccesary. if i were REALLY paranoid, i may be inclined to think this is a plot to reduce the population of women, but then that would be ridiculous, wouldn't it? i know several women who had masses that turned out to be cancerous detected in mammograms in their 30's to 40's! these are just some bean counters that are looking to cut costs, at someone else's life expense.

Remember the term "death squads." It's getting closed every vote.

The Gov health team will adopt a scoring table for treatment, much like homeland security color code.

1. Gets treatment expenses covered
2. Might 3. Never.

But then why outlaw paying cash?
