"David Bowie, an English professor specializing in linguistics at the same university, said Palin didn’t use so many informalities before she ran for national office."

I've read that George W. Bush spoke in complete sentences and didn't start sounding like bumpkin until he decided to run for president. Is there something about the republican base that makes candidates feel that they must sound as if they dropped out of school in the third grade in order to get elected?

"Is there something about the republican base that makes candidates feel that they must sound as if they dropped out of school in the third grade in order to get elected?"

Yes, the GOP has brought about the "dumbing down" of America over the last twenty years. Educated voters are one of the biggest threats to the GOP and the huge corporations that manipulate middle America. It is therefore important for the candidate to sound uneducated so the average American can relate to him or her.

Jose, Sarah Palin does not scare the Left. In fact, if she were to get the GOP presidential nomination in 2012, the Left would be rejoicing. She scares the GOP elite more than anyone because she represents the total disintegration and fragmentation of what is left of them. People like Sarah Palin cannot win national elections for the GOP.

Palin didn't make the patriotic choice to run "fer Vaice Prezidunt", she was picked by the Party strictly on a lark to appeal to a specific demographic in their shrinking base, and apparently to their dismay, they were so desperate to parade her to the Party faithful that they never bothered vetting her for her destructive potential.

The only sub-prime loans that were made that the government could have had influenced were those handled by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

The sub-prime loans at fannie and freddie were only 20% of the total subprimes written.

The rest of the sub-primes 80%, were written by unregulated comapanies such as Countrywide.

The right keeps trying to blame the meltdown on the Community re-investment act.

Sorry Rush, but that dog won't hunt.

Most of the bad loans were written and marketed in a totally unregulated market.

When the Democrat Congress passed amnesty for illegal aliens in 1986, Ted Kennedy claimed:

This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million illegal aliens. We will secure the borders henceforth. We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this.

Kennedy repeatedly lied since the 1965 act started the full-fledged destruction of the country, and continued to lie about amnesty to his death.

Barry's changed his name so many times, if he didn't like Hussein he could have changed it too.

Is the Left reduced to posting one word non-stop, made up of three syllables? Starts with an "i." Interesting.

From the article -
"No matter how natural it may sound, some of what Palin says is probably cultivated to appeal to a certain demographic", said Carl Shepro, a political science professor at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
=========

That's just a nice way of saying the "fresh air" slang that Palin exudes is how fish smells when its been left out in the sun for a while.

She sounds like a candidate for "...you might be a redneck if..." and while she is certainly annoying (that VOICE!), I haven't seen any reason for the left to be concerned.

Its the right that is runnin scared because Palin and a couple of really freaky entertainment personalities is all they've got.

What scares the left is that she just seems like more of the dumming down of US politics.

If she were a serious contender, she would never have allowed that magazine cover. That is, unless she's running for some pageant again.

If she's interested in politics, why would she make such a cheap fool of herself?

Her voice, silly affections, her magazine covers, her book - none of that means much when its help up next to her incredible ignorance. And, THAT is what will bring her down again. (If she doesn't quit first)

Joan S, your disrespect for the democratically elected president of this country is despicable. The election is over, so shut it on that "Hussein" stupidity.
Enough is enough from wingnuts like you who cannot accept that the majority of Americans do not want to hear your Fox News mantras.
The nation has moved on so maybe you should either do the same or keep that ridiculous campaign rhetoric to yourself. IT DIDN'T WORK!
People who support the democratically elected president are not zombies. They are citizens who respect the president. President Obama is an intelligent, educated, decent man who deserves respect.
DIDN'T WORK=============

Just thought it merited another read by some.

Winner...Joan S. Nice job.

Here's hoping Liza will wise up a bit after she leaves the Leftist intellectual prison of a university environment. Maybe a little real world experience will help her.

Lemme guess, all those people who said the absolute worst things about George Walker Bush (heavens, I used his middle name!) weren't despicable, and didn't need to "shut it". As for those of us speaking out now, should we be "quieted" by government officials? Dissent is no longer patriotic, eh?

What's the over/under on "wingnuts" on her next post? I'll go with 4 1/2.

Meanwhile, we get Barb the Coyote as her pinch hitter...oh joy!

The lecture about respect has a special amount of credibility coming from someone who calls Bush "shrub" in nearly every posting at this forum.

I don't know how to stop laughing. "Intelligent," yeah, but we never saw any of his college papers or grades, he could be a "D" student for all we know.

"Decent," yeah, in that Mao-ist sorta way....

The ball is in your court...you still have a couple of years....Go for it....
give it your best shot....And, please, please, please let Sarah be your front runner. Maybe she could pick Trent Franks as her VP....

And be careful here, I said Trent Franks, and not Barney Franks....

Or, what the hey, maybe Trent Franks for Pres, and Sheriff Joe for VP

Yeah, that's the ticket.....
