I'm glad it was rejected. I liked some of the punishments ID Thenft charges and a few other items in it, but it was nearly impossible to get the employer. If legislation is smart they may add some of those punishments to what we have now and strengthen more.
I'm also glad the voters rejected the majority rule. It's no majority if no one is bothering to vote.

Common sense?
Unfortunate that Arizona's defeated proposition 300 for giving lawmakers a pay raise. The low pay continues to guarantee that only people with dual incomes or wealth will be able to afford to represent us. Voting know only punishes aspiring legislatures who cannot live on 24k; it does nothing to the current legislatures who obviously have other sources of income. The voters get this wrong every time. Common sense says you get what you pay for in schools and government employee quality. Common sense also says a democracy isn't best represented by only allowing the wealthy to serve in public office. Think about this next time it comes around. Let's let working people be able to afford to serve in the state legislature.

Unfortunately, the voters of Arizona will have their wishes concerning illegal immigration overturned by Obama and the Democratic Congress.
Everything bill that has been passed, every proposition that has been passed (or in the case of 202 turned down) will be null and void within a year. Obama will intrude and pass federal legislation that makes all of this irrelevant. And the ACLU and MALDEF already have their lawyers ready to help Obama.
Hope everyone sees this? But I have not heard it mentioned. Any comments?

The defeat of prop 202 (the business lobby proposal to go soft on illegal employers) shows how out of touch the extreme liberal media outlets are; especially the Arizona Daily Star.
They constantly write pro-illegal stories (usually written by racist hispanics). Their stories on illegal immigration completely ignore most Arizonans.
These business lobbies write this proposal in a way to mislead voters into thinking it was a proposal cracking down on illegal employers when, of course, the opposite was true. All the AZ newspapers were saying that the proposal was going to pass with a 2-1 margin of victory. Not even close! Way to go Arizonans! We saw right through their bs and let them know that illegals are not welcome in AZ. (Sheriff Joe had a landslide victory as well up in Phoenix).
USA TODAY's subscriptions have increased this year while the Arizona Daily Star's have plummetted. Gee, I wonder why. Could it be that Arizonans are tired of reading pro-illegal stories that don't represent the majority of Arizonans. I know that's why I stopped purchasing the Daily Star and started getting USA TODAY. Maybe someday someone at the newpaper will realize this and start printing the truth rather than liberal propaganda.

"Unfortunately, the voters of Arizona will have their wishes concerning illegal immigration overturned by Obama and the Democratic Congress"
-------------------------
This isn't going to happen, Frank. The democratic congress and president Bush both supported the 2006 amnesty bill and it failed. The reason is that under no circumstances will the American people allow amnesty to illegals. Whenever anyone tries to put amnesty in a bill, their constituents go crazy on them. The 2006 bill didn't pass with democratic control and presidential support; nor will any other amnesty bill pass.
The democrats know they were elected because Americans want out of Iraq and want the economy improved. Just because America's sick of Repulicans doesn't mean we want amnesty. Any democrat who thinks they were elected to help illegal break the law will quickly find out otherwise.

THE PROBLEM IS: Less than 1, out of 4 illegals, are estimated to have been apprehended.
Mind boggling, isn't it.
According to the U.S. Immigration Service another 6 million illegals in this country are visa overstays. That is, they got a visa legally in their home country, they came here to visit and then they never left.
In the last 22 years, there have been another 4 million anchor babies born to illegals. Anchor babies are now being born at a rate of 350-400 thousand per year in our United States. All at our expense!!
Then the ANCHOR BABIES qualify for welfare, food stamps, section-8 housing, all at our expense.

Mandate, AND STRICTLY ENFORCE, E-Verify for ALL employers, for ALL employees, and for ANY benefit, and the I.C.E. raids, as well as all of the expemsive new detention facilities, would not be needed.
The illegals would have to begin leaving of their own accord.
Think of the economic effect of giving the 8.7 million jobs, that the illegals have illegally obtained, using forged, or stolen documents, back to Americans.
Think of the economic effect of 65 billion more dollars being spent in our United States, rather than being remitted to Mexico, and South America.
Think of the money saved by decreasing I.C.E.'s effort.
