'Bull' worth an extra $15,000

Nearly three years ago at Talladega Dale Earnhardt Jr. was fined $10,000 and docked 25 points for saying the word “sh—” in a live post-race interview.

Sunday in Indianapolis, Tony Stewart said the word “bullsh—” in a live post-race interview.

Stewart was docked the same amount of points as Earnhardt but was fined $25,000.

I know you can’t say certain things on TV but people get a little too bent out of shape over a few little words.

My dad has the mouth of the love child of a construction worker and a sailor. He was never shy about using that kind of language in front of my brother and me when we were kids and we turned out just fine.

Well, that’s not entirely true. My brother also has a foul mouth but I can’t even say the word “damn” in front of my parents without blushing.

So lighten up, folks.

Here’s the full text from the press release:

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 31, 2007) – NASCAR announced today that Tony Stewart has been fined $25,000 and penalized 25 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series driver championship points, as a result of using inappropriate language during a post-race televised interview following his victory Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Stewart, driver of the No. 20 Chevrolet, retains his fifth-place standing in the series points, with his total points reduced to 2,599.

Stewart violated Section 12-4-A of the series rule book (actions detrimental to stock car racing) by using the inappropriate language.

In addition, Stewart’s car owner, Joe Gibbs, has been penalized 25 car owner championship points because of the infraction.

  1. According to SceneDaily.com, the extra 15k was because Stewart was on probation after he skipped out on his media obligation when he was in Phoenix.

Don’t you think you’re entitled to a little piece of that 15k since you are a part of the Phoenix media. Something makes me think NASCAR won’t realize that.

  2. Ah, that makes sense. I can’t believe I forgot he was on probation since he’s always on probation.

And, yes, they can make the check payable to Jaynelle Ramon.
