I didn’t see the race. I just had to go see “The Devil Wears Prada.”
I know, I know. Once again Jaynelle picks something else over NASCAR.
I don’t want to hear it. I have a little thing called a DVR.
All I want to say is ah, isn’t revenge sweet? All right, I have to say I really don’t believe it was revenge. I was just being a little facetious.
AP Photo
Jeffrey, you look good in champagne.
If it was any other driver but Gordon this would be a non-issue. It’d be chalked up there as another one of “those racin’ deals.” When a guy is slower than you and is trying to block you, you have the right to “move” him out of your way. Isn’t that the only thing that doesn’t change in the NASCAR rulebook? Right or wrong, isn’t that accepted practice?
If it had been any other driver who spun out Kenseth more than just the people who aren’t blinded by infantile pettiness would recognize that Kenseth slowed and Gordon did what he had to do to not wreck himself.
But because it’s Gordon, fans throw trash on the track, the media turns it into another episode in the nonexistent “Gordon-Kenseth rivalry” and drivers like Kenseth, Kyle Busch and Jeff Burton are screaming, “Bloody murder!”
The Gordon-haters will be cursing all week and calling for his head because he takes cheap shots. He spins everyone out. He puts everyone into the wall. He hits anything with a number on it. He whines. He cries. He’s spoiled. He thinks there’s a different set of rules for him. NASCAR will never seriously penalize a Hendrick driver. Everyone at Hendrick is a cheater. He’s so desperate for wins he has to wreck people. He’s had his whole career handed to him on a silver platter. Oh, yeah, and he’s really short. (Because, you know, most racecar drivers are about 6-4.)
Did I miss anything?
And hey, Busch Light, know your place and shut your mouth.
You, little boy, are no one to criticize Jeff Gordon.
Man, I never wanted my blog to become a place for me to praise Gordon and constantly defend him against the haters, as Jimmie Johnson would say, but sometimes I am left with no choice!
;-)
Wait, one more thing…
From the department of WTF – Juan Montoya is leaving Formula One to drive the 42 car in NASCAR.
Um, is the world ending and no one bothered to tell me?
I’m starting to regret that whole not going to confession since I was 8 years old thing.
From what I recall, when Jeff Gordon and Montoya switched rides at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway a few years back everyone was impressed with how quickly Gordon took to the F1 car but Montoya didn’t exactly make anyone say, “Man, that cat should be racing in NASCAR.”
Hope this works out better than it did for Christian Fittipaldi, Scott Pruett, Adrian Fernandez, Michel Jourdain and anyone else not named Tony Stewart.
Its ok, Jeff knows Kenseth is a better driver right now so he wrecked him.
— Matt 07/09/2006 04:15 PM #
I just want this guy in the Chase and, nope, I don’t care how he gets there because if he doesn’t make it for the second year and I have to read everywhere about how he doesn’t have it anymore I might have to open fire somewhere.
(Hey, NSA, that was a joke.)
— Jaynelle 07/09/2006 04:20 PM #
After all the whining Kenseth did about the “incident” he in the end HAD TO & DID ADMIT that he would not have won the race b/c he would have run out of fuel before the end. That is why I believe he was blocking Gordon & slowing when he thought he could—- to conserve fuel by slowing down & conserving it by blocking Gordon so he wouldn’t have to race any faster & use more fuel b/c he knew if he went into the pit around 10 or less laps he was done for. Last yr Gordon kept getting held back by the WRECKS of others in front of him but was there much sympathy for him?—- nope—- so I don’t have much for Kenseth now either.
And Kenseth, don’t start something w/ someone & then when payback comes :} in the form of Karma & then complain.
And to the individual that threw the beer bottle—- if you don’t like your choice of beer don’t blame Jeff. :}-
— B.R. 07/10/2006 01:07 AM #
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, it is what it is. BTW way to go Jr. I was thinking the same thing about JPM. I guess nobody in F1 wants him so…...I hope he does well.
— Michael Marshall 07/10/2006 06:00 AM #
Yep, I wish these guys would all shut up about payback.
Driver A wrecks Driver B. Driver B gets Driver A back a couple races later. Then Driver A says Driver B’s going to get it. But since Driver A started it and Driver B got him back shouldn’t it be done?
They can’t get into this never-ending cycle of paying each other back because no one ever wants to take the blame for anything. No one will ever say, “Well, I wrecked him a few weeks ago. He got me back and now we’re even.”
I swear these guys act like little kids sometimes.
— Jaynelle 07/10/2006 10:13 AM #
Well, Gordon kinda did say he got payback.. taken from here: http://www.sportsline.com/autoracing/story/9547595
JOLIET, Ill.—Matt Kenseth accused Jeff Gordon of spinning him out on Sunday in retribution for an accident earlier in the season.
Gordon’s answer: So what if I did?
“I certainly didn’t mean to wreck him,” Gordon said. “But I didn’t mind moving him out of the way, either.”
and
“When it came down with five to go, he should have expected, if I could get to his bumper, there was going to be some action,” Gordon said. “One, because of what happened in Bristol – and I’m not saying I just was going to wreck him, but you better believe I was going to make life difficult on him. And then No. 2, just ‘cause we’re hungry right now.”
He’s changed his story many times from what I’ve seen/read. It’s a shame, he could’ve waited 1/2 a lap and passed him cleanly.. but oh well, didn’t happen. As soon as I saw Gordon catching, I just somehow knew that that was going to happen.
— Gael 07/10/2006 10:25 AM #
Thanks Jaynelle for speaking for all the real Jeff Gordon fans out here.
Right on..every word. And, I guess all these know-it-all fans of other drivers, fogot about Dale,SR. and his bump and run on every single race he ran. Gordon has been quoted many times as saying “when I looked in my mirror and saw the #3 car, I knew..move it or get bumped out of the way”
Why do they all have their panties in a wad now?? Especially the Jr., Tony and Kenseth fans…shame on them.
I’m a grandma who has been a fan of Jeff Gordon since his Busch days..I rode to the top in the 90’s with him, and now I am going to do it again!! I never for once time faltered in my loyalty and belief in this wonderful humanitarian, who happens to be one hell of a race car driver.
Nice going, Jaynelle, great article. For all of us hardcore Gordon fans—Jeff’s been Mr. Nice Guy for a long time—payback is what it is—Matt got mad at Bristol and wrecked Jeff because of what Kurt did to him—it wouldn’t have happened that way at Chicago if Matt hadn’t been blocking. But I figure from what Gordon said—he didn’t feel like playing nice with Matt. I’m a long time Gordon fan and have been abused at tracks and on-line for many years. I don’t care—my driver was in Victory Lane—if it had been Jr who had done the spin to win—DW and BP would have wet themselves with glee. But if it’s Gordon, oh boy, it’s terrible isn’t it? In my book, they should be even now, but I’ll bet Matt the Brat doesn’t think so.
How about a little Wisconsin cheese with that whine?
Pat, Gina – ladies, I think I love y’all! ;-)
— Jaynelle 07/10/2006 01:05 PM #
Wonderful how we can sit in our cozy little homes and second guess every single move these drivers make. This stuff has always happened and always will happen. Only one car can.
Whats the saying…”second place is just the first looser”!
But that said, I’ll never respect a driver who needs to spin someone out to make a pass or worse yet to win a race. Be that Earnhardt, Kenseth or Gordon (well maybe Robbie Gordon, he’s made career out of it)
— Jim 07/10/2006 01:30 PM #
Its funny, all you ladies that are Gordon fans saying Kenseth is “whining” when all he said he was dumped and thats it. Nothing more. Get your facts straight next time you try to say Jeff was in the right.
— Matt 07/10/2006 02:00 PM #
Matt, settle down. No one said what Jeff did was right. I, personally, cringe every time I see a guy spin the guy out in front of him instead of battling for the spot and taking it cleanly.
That being said, if Matt can do it to Jeff and say he didn’t really mean to spin Jeff out why can’t Jeff do it to him and say he didn’t really mean to spin him out?
It’s a bit hard to take what Matt says as anything more than whining because when the roles were reversed all we got from him was a “Whoops. Sorry, Jeff.”
And for the fans of a driver, I'm sure most would take a victory no matter how it comes, especially Gordon fans. People hate him anyway so it's not like if he never makes even the slightest bit of contact with another driver people are suddenly going to love him.
I repeat what I said before, a win is a win is a win.
— Jaynelle 07/10/2006 02:08 PM #
As I said before, its Chicago, not Bristol.
— Matt 07/10/2006 02:12 PM #
I disagree with the win at all costs philosophy. Talent produces real wins. A bumper doesn’t. I’m no fan of Jeff, but has the talent to win. He shouldn’t have to resort to spinning people out to get the win.
— Jim 07/10/2006 02:30 PM #
It does not matter who is driving if the guy in front of you is slowing down (as Matt was thats how Jeff made up 3 seconds in ten laps) and you are going for the win move them out of the way no matter what. This is racing at the highest level thats what has to be done. It pisses people off when their driver is spun out but no one complains when their driver is the one causing the spin. It is all about the win.
— Robert 07/10/2006 03:54 PM #
I completely disagree with your rant. As much as the fans completely dislike Gordo, NASCAR protects him at all costs. I can only guess it is because of their need to attract another breed of fans than their grassroots fans. Heck, they’re even tweaking the Chase next season specifically so drivers like Gordo and Little E are virtually guaranteed to get in. So, by the same token that you say fans would not be upset if it was a different driver that took Kenseth out yesterday; I say if it was any other driver that took Kenseth out in that fashion in the waning laps of a race that Kenseth completely dominated NASCAR would have taken action against said driver. Gordo may not be liked by the fans, but he is adored up on high by the NASCAR execs.
— Jeff 07/10/2006 04:11 PM #
To the Jeff fans it was “just racin” but when the same thing happend to him at Dover last year alot of the Jeff fans were calling for Tony to be black flagged. It is okay for Jeff to do it but god forbid someone does it to Jeff.
— Melissa 07/10/2006 04:29 PM #
Completely agree with post # 16. Check out this link. http://www.speedwaymedia.com/Articles/06/071006Madding.asp
— Gerald 07/10/2006 05:00 PM #
Hey Jeff – nice name, by the way – you think that was a rant? Nope. This is a rant…
NASCAR plays favorites with a lot of drivers. I can remember Stewart being on probabtion and then having his probation extended when he acted crazy a second time. Real harsh punishment there.
And don’t lump me in with fans that are blinded by loyalty. How many frickin’ times do I have to say that I will be the first person to call Jeff out when he does something stupid? Should he have done what he did? No. He probably could have gotten around Kenseth in another lap or so. That’s not my issue with this whole situation.
My problem is with ignorant fans who criticize every single mistake Gordon makes simply because he’s Jeff Gordon and start crying “conspiracy theory” just because no “traditional” NASCAR fan wants to accept that he will go down in history as one of the greatest ever.
How about giving a little credit where credit is due, people?
Like Duane Cross on NASCAR.com said, you can’t have it both ways. You can’t think it’s OK if another driver does it and then thinks it’s the greatest travesty in NASCAR history when Jeff Gordon does it.
Do I like it when Jeff gets spun out? Of course not. I may get angry and flip out but I understand that it's one of "them racin' deals" and it happens to everyone. I'm not going to call for fines and suspensions and black flags over a little rough racing.
Whoa, everyone slow down a bit. Jeff Gordon’s move on Kenseth was justified. Mat slowed down and Gordo had 2 choices; 1)dump Kenseth or 2) try to avoid hitting him and probably (more than likely if you ask me) wreck himself, Kenseth, and Mears in the process. Period. An no, I’m not a Jeff Gordon fan, but that is the way I see it. If Kenseth’s car had been any other car Jeff still would have done the same thing, there just would have been less backlash (unless it was Jr. he dumped I guess). And as far as Gordo being the man in NASCAR, I think not. Check out this link to find out why. http://4ever3canadianeh.blogspot.com/2006/07/bill-you-are-wrong.html
— 4ever3 07/10/2006 06:38 PM #
Seriously, Canada man, why can’t everyone be rational like you?
Does Canada breed rationality?
— Jaynelle 07/10/2006 06:50 PM #
Unfortunately no, but there are a few of us out there – we could probably fill a mini-van or a small school bus, but we wouldn’t be able to decide who would drive, not rationally anyway.
— 4ever3 07/10/2006 08:23 PM #
Man, this have been fun, guys.
For the past few weeks I feared I had lost my ability to get you guys riled up. I thought y’all had stopped caring and didn’t even want to give me hell for my slight Jeff Gordon obsession anymore.
Heck, I wrote an entry questioning if you could really compare Gordon to Dale Earnhardt and I didn’t even get the hate mail I was expecting.
I’ve made many of my co-workers, including my boss, laugh hysterically because of two little sentences I say quite often, “People hate me. It’s awesome!”
This has been awesome. Nice to see I haven’t lost my touch and neither have you guys.
Keep giving it to me because I’m going to keep dishing it out.
But please keep in mind that my mom gets very upset when you guys are mean to me. ;-)
— Jaynelle 07/11/2006 08:29 AM #
WOW, you go girl. YOU said all the things I have been thinking but just did not know how to say it as well as you did. BRAVO I love this new JEFF GORDON that lets it all out and holds nothing in.
— 24myman 07/11/2006 11:26 AM #
Hey, Jaynelle,
Ditto for me on the #19 “rant”...just like Jeff basically told Tony and the other Nascar bullies:
“BRING IT”
You go, girl!!!!
— always24pat 07/11/2006 11:34 AM #
Jaynelle, you rock! I love it that you are calling aout the Jeff bashers. It’s ironic that the very people who call Jeff a whiner have done nothing but whine since Sunday.
People seem to for get that had Jeff not spun Matt, he would have run out of gas and finished 31st or worse. Jeff did Matt a favor. It was through Matt’s own stupidity that he wrecked himself at the finish. I hope those 3 points were worth the cost of a destroyed race car.
The only reason the Jeff bashers are whining like babies over the incident it because it’s Jeff. Had an Earnhardt done it or had it happened to Jeff no one (other that JG fans) would have said a damn thing. I think the truth of the matter is that people are realizing that Jeff is now gonna be a threat to not only make the chase but to also win his 5th cup.
Hold on Jeff fans because the rest of this season is gonna be one helluva fun ride!
— SPACEMAKER24 07/11/2006 12:22 PM #
Are we really sure that the guy on here posting as Matt isn’t Matt Kenseth. He sure is whining and crying..it all sounds so familiar from the interviews with Kenseth!
Hey, Matt, perhaps you’d spend your time better posting on the Kenseth fan page..Oh, wait, is there such a thing??? lol
— always24pat 07/11/2006 12:57 PM #
Matt, you say Kenseth wasn’t/isn’t whining? Are you kidding? He was still whining yesterday at the Indy test. Can I understand that he’s upset? Sure, but between him whining and Burton and Busch lite chiming in about how “terrible” it was we Gordon fans who get bashed no matter what our driver does get a bit irritated too. It’s racing—someone referenced Dover last year—well yeah, Gordon and his fans were upset about that—after all Tony dumped him with 3/4 of the race left to go. Tony’s supposed to be superman of car control,so why did he need to do that? But you didn’t hear about that all week.
— Gina 07/11/2006 01:04 PM #
And he’s a good guy, except for that time he commented on John Newsom’s blog about how he doesn’t like me. Don’t think I forgot about that, Matt. ;-)
— Jaynelle 07/11/2006 01:07 PM #
How could anyone not like you? You tell it like it is…the Montoya thing is hilarious! I also like that you can dish it and take it..so many ppl. on boards sure can dish it out, but they can’t take it!
You are awesome!
— always24pat 07/11/2006 01:25 PM #
For the longest time, it could be argued that Jeff had no fans. Sure, Kenseth is hardly Mr. Popularity but I like him because he races hard, races clean, and his favorite band is Metallica. A lot of times it comes off to haters as whining when a guy is asked the same question 57683457 times in the last 2 days. There is only so many ways of answering it before you just say screw it.
Thanks for shout Jaynelle, and the more I’ve read your stuff I’ve come around ;-)
— Matt 07/11/2006 02:13 PM #
I think that all of you that point out the dbl-standard regarding DE forget one thing. Don’t you folks remember that DE is a DEITY & MUST NEVER be criticized? That was going on BEFORE he died but got even worse AFTER he did die.
And apparently “Matt” is IMHO CLEARLY delusional since he said in reference to MK that quote he: “races clean”. Well, that’s another LOL.
— B.R. 07/11/2006 02:51 PM #
I guess the new name of this blog will be Jeff Gordon Talk.
— Jim 07/11/2006 06:26 PM #
If you are leading a race, and you see the car behind you catching your butt, and you know you don’t have the car to win, why on earth would you be so stupid to block him. Him being the 24 car of 4 time champion Jeff Gordon who ended up on Matt’s back bumper. That was the dumb move of the race Matt. Jeff seems to know how to move someone without sending them into the wall. He didn’t wreck him. Matt didn’t hit anything. Jeff just rattled his cage, like Earnhardt Sr. used to do. It kind of reminded me of the Earnhardt, Terry Labonte incident of past. When all the other driver boards spend all their time talking about Gordon, it’s all good. As Dale Sr said, when the booing stops, you’re history and when they boo, you are doing something right. There has never been a driver to churn up such emotion as Jeff Gordon and that is why he is so good for this sport. What would we do without him. Truly an icon and most decorated champion. He deserves the utmost respect from his peers. They only wish they were as successful.
— Debbie 07/11/2006 07:30 PM #
Thanks for proving my point Debbie, that incident you speak of was at BRISTOL and NOT Chicago. I win.
— Matt 07/11/2006 08:22 PM #
Also that was a blatant effort by Earnhardt to crash Labonte and NASCAR immediately said there would be no fines or penalties…hmmm…sounds familiar.
— Jim 07/11/2006 08:32 PM #
Hello, Labonte got into Earnhardt not once but twice the lap before at that race in Bristol and Earnhardt held onto the car and eventually returned the favour. Payback is a female dog, if Labonte couldn’t take it, he shouldn’t have dished it out in the first place. Its amazing people only remember the crash and not the events leading up to the crash. Give me a break!!
Sorry Jaynelle, so much for rationality!
— 4ever3 07/11/2006 10:47 PM #
Thanks for showing your bias, Labonte never touched Earnhardt during that race before he was dumped. If it were payback the fans wouldn’t have booed him.
— Matt 07/12/2006 07:02 AM #
Here’s a video I found of what happened. It shows a bunch of laps leading up to the end, and then Earnhardt’s typical actions of wrecking people.
http://rednekkid.com/bristol/bristol99.mov
Yeah I’m not sure what’s with that site’s name, but it works.
Debbie, you really think drivers are just going to move over and let someone go when it’s for the win, with 4 to go? There’s a difference between blocking some, and punting a driver in your way. The only reason why Kenseth didn’t crash was because he made a good recovery, and all the other drivers avoided him well. Plus it doesn’t hurt that Chicago is an extremely wide track.. it had nothing to do with Gordon’s “skill” of wrecking people.
If you want a way to actually pass people well, here’s an idea, pass CLEANLY.. wow what a concept. Or at the VERY least, just get them a little loose and make them wiggle and have to chase the car back up the track. Sorry, but if you make the guy spin, not that impressive.. please don’t be a blind fan.
— Gael 07/12/2006 07:48 AM #
It seems there was some rubbin but that was all. Here is a link with some quotes and a description of the incident.
It seems the more things change the more they stay the same. One thing for sure, bias will always be blind.
— Jim 07/12/2006 07:49 AM #
Hey Matt, I’ve got the tape to prove it. I’ll make you a copy and send it to you, as long as you don’t tell NASCAR I have it. And yes I have a bit of Bias to Earnhardt Sr., but when he was wrong I would adimit it, like when he sent Rusty flying across the infield coming to the finish line at Talladega. That was wrong, and I was never a Rusty fan. The fans booed him then just like they boo Gordon now, because he was good and I’m not a Gordon fan, as most of you who have read my ramblings know, but I never said he wasn’t a good driver with a good character, bias or no bias. The same goes for Labonte. I respect all of these drivers and when they are wrong I’ll call them on it whether I like them or not, and when they are right I praise them whether I like them or not.
— 4ever3 07/12/2006 07:55 AM #
All I know is Jeff won the race and in the end that's what everyone is there for.
— Robert 07/13/2006 04:41 PM #
YES! My goal was always 50! Now, I’m at 52! Thanks!
— Jaynelle 07/14/2006 09:26 AM #
From today’s interviews during qualifying. Jeff said he apologized… it’s over and he’s over it.
Whiney Matt said Jeff apologized, but “wasn’t sincere”..WTF does that mean..he needed to kiss his ass or feet??
If Kenseth spins Jeff out this w/e, Nascar WILL penalize him..it will be an obvious payback and infraction of the rules..so Matt should keep his trap shut.
— always24pat 07/14/2006 02:38 PM #
Jeff’s whining reputation far surpasses anything you claim Matt does ;-)
— Matt 07/14/2006 10:17 PM #
I agree with you Matt, even Jeff’s clone (JJ #48) whines like him, but let’s not forget Kenseth is a big whiner too. That is why we are still hearing about this incident 5 days later. They need to move on and concentrate on this week’s race.
— 4ever3 07/14/2006 10:29 PM #
The only people whining more than Matt Kenseith is 4ever3 and Matt who posts here..get over it..get a life…Jeff did nothing wrong. Go watch “Beyond the Wheel”..and see what they have to say about it.
Yeesh, not wonder you both are whiney #17 fans…if the shoe fits..yep!!

For all you anti Jeff and Jeff Bashers, here’s the truth:

The ABG’rs guide to NASCAR
By ?Wyatt Holland
This is a guide to help the fledgling ABG’r (Anybody but Gordon) quickly adjust and get up to speed on the latest techniques in the art of rooting against Jeff Gordon.
The following are in no particular order:
When someone wrecks Jeff Gordon:
v He was blocking
v He deserved it
v That’s racing! Get out of the way or go home!
v It was an accident
v He’s gay
When Jeff Gordon wrecks someone else:
v He ALWAYS wrecks everybody
v That’s dirty racing!
v NASCAR lets him get away with murder!
v He did it on purpose!
v __ __is going to pay him back
v He’s gay
Note: Keep in mind that no matter how many times a driver has wrecked Jeff Gordon, they owe him payback if he wrecks them once. It is also not right to bring up any past drivers with a history of wrecking to defend Gordon, but ok to bring up past history that paints him in a negative light.
When a driver is angry at Jeff Gordon:
v He is absolutely right
v He is very justified in being angry
When Jeff Gordon is angry at another driver:
v He is whining
v He is crying
v He is gay
When Jeff Gordon is not penalized:
v NASCAR never punishes him!
v He’s their golden boy!
v He cheats and gets away with it
v He’s gay
When Jeff Gordon is penalized:
v About time!
v See? This proves he cheats!
v He’s gay
Note: You must be very careful to avoid remembering any other drivers who were not penalized for doing what Jeff Gordon did. If, however, there is one instance in NASCAR history where a driver is penalized for doing something Gordon did, you must bring it up.
You must also purge any memories of penalties Gordon receives when you say he is never penalized and then be able to recall them perfectly when listing how many times he has been “caught cheating”.
When Jeff Gordon wins a race:
v He cheats!
v Anyone could win in those cars
v Throw things on the track?beer cans are preferred
v He’s gay
When Jeff Gordon doesn’t win a race:
v He sucks
v Anyone else would win in those cars
v He’s gay
When asked how long you’ve hated Jeff Gordon:
v Since his first race
v Since he started beating my driver? Opps?I mean?since his first race!
v He’s gay
All fans of my driver are:
v Dedicated
v Knowledgeable about the sport
v Fans since he was born
All Jeff Gordon fans are:
v Bandwagon fans
v New fans who don’t know anything about the sport
v Fair-weather fans
v Gay
If a driver, crew chief, or owner says something negative about Jeff Gordon:
v He’s in Cup, he knows what he is talking about much more than fans do.
v I’ve always liked that guy.
If a driver, crew chief, or owner says something positive about Jeff Gordon:
v He’s an idiot and always has been
v He’s talking the NASCAR “company line” and is afraid to say what he really thinks
v Ignore it and hope no one brings it up
v He’s gay
Note: These can vary race to race. If, for instance, Ryan Newman says he enjoys racing against Jeff Gordon at one race and is mad at him at a different race, the angry comments are the only ones that will be considered valid.
If your favorite driver wins a race under caution:
v Hey?that’s the way it goes?you have to be up front when it counts.
v It’s my all time favorite race (ref. 1998 Daytona 500)
If Jeff Gordon wins a race under caution:
v The fans were cheated
v Throw things on the track?beer cans preferred
v He’s gay
Note: It is recommended that you be able to change your stance on this one very quickly. There was actually a weekend at Talladega when a driver won the Busch race under caution on Saturday and Jeff Gordon won the Cup race under caution on Sunday. The fans were up to the task and managed to cheer for the Saturday winner and boo Jeff Gordon the very next day.
When fans throw things on the track after a Jeff Gordon win:
v They are voicing their opinion
v They are not half-witted morons
v They are not an embarrassment to the sport of NASCAR
If Jeff Gordon fans ever throw things on the track:
v They are half-witted morons
v They are an embarrassment to the sport of NASCAR
v They are gay
Note: This one hasn’t happened yet?but it never hurts to be prepared just in case.
When Jeff Gordon hasn’t won something:
v It is the most important thing a driver can do to prove how good they are
When Jeff Gordon wins something he hasn’t won before:
v Anyone could win it in that car
v He cheated
v It was fixed
Note: This is a big one. You must be quick to change your stance here. Prime examples are how talented ABG’rs were able to say that Gordon wasn’t very good because he had not won on short tracks early in his career. As soon as he started winning on short tracks they quickly shifted their position to road courses. If your driver has done something Gordon has not done, you must grab onto that one for dear life and treat it as if it is the only measure of how good a driver is. (These are rare and precious.)
Above all, an ability to change or ignore history is your #1 weapon. A good example of this is saying that driving for Rick Hendrick and a multi-car team is a huge advantage. You must never bring up that when Gordon started driving for Hendrick, it was considered a mistake to drive for a multi-car team and that Hendrick had never won a championship despite having had some of the greatest drivers of all time drive for him.
This is only a guide. Feel free to add your own tactics and experiences to further educate other ABG’rs and help them

Thank you.

— Matt 07/10/2006 02:00 PM #

UGH!
Rant over.

But please keep in mind that my mom gets very upset when you guys are mean to me. ;-)

— always24pat 07/11/2006 11:34 AM #

If Kenseth spins Jeff out this w/e, Nascar WILL penalize him..it will be an obvious payback and infraction of the rules..so Matt should keep his trap shut.
