Last week, Michael Jackson, "The
King of Pop," died after suffering
cardiac arrest. He was 50, and
preparing start a series of
comeback concerts.

Jackson's musical
accomplishments were many,
including the hits "Bad," "Billie
Jean," "Thriller" and "Shake Your
Body (Down to the Ground)." His
1982 album "Thriller" is the
best-selling album of all time.

He collaborated with Paul
McCartney, Quincey Jones, and
his sister, Janet Jackson.

He invented the moonwalk.

And while his behavior later in life
was bizarre, we prefer to focus
on the positives, like Jackson's
music, and his charity work.

In one instance, the two
overlapped. Jackson co-wrote the
charity single "We Are the
World," which was released
worldwide to aid the poor in
Africa and the United States.

Tell us who co-wrote the song for
a chance to win an audio book.

All Souls Procession pre-party with Mizu Desierto and Musica Obscura

Friday night was the pre-celebration for the All Souls Procession which took place Sunday at 6 p.m. along Fourth Ave. and into downtown.

I experienced the performance by Mizu Desierto, an abstract and very expressive dance including the use of beautiful lighting and video projection.

The people attending this fundraiser were elaborately decked out in
dance of the dead attire that celebrates this grand weekend event. The party continued outside the Rialto Theatre with belly dancers and drummers along the street. Traffic lit the scene with an intensity that attracted the passersby to catch part of the fun.

Then it was on to Plush where electronic wizzards Musica Obscura blew us all away again with their intense sound of vocals vailed in a womb of decadent beats and screaming guitars, among other sounds that these three guys and whatever machines they are using up there pump out.
