On “Desperate Housewives,” I wasn’t shocked that Paul Young hired a convict to beat up Mike to gain a favor.
Nor was I that shocked that Zach Young is now a millionaire and was after Gabrielle.
Nor that Alma keeps Dominique’s teeth under the floorboards in her pantry.
I was appalled to see that Julie is now lying to Susan. As I said last week, I was upset that Julie was losing her virginity to Austin because she felt like a loser. At the beginning of the episode, she kept that a secret from Susan and went to Edie to get birth-control pills. High marks to Gabrielle for finding them in a false cassette tape (obviously, she did the same thing as a teen).
But the ending had the Gimore Girls, er, best mom and daughter on television bonding again after Susan told Julie about Austin and Danielle sleeping together. I’m sure Susan’s going to come in handy when Julie plans Danielle’s demise. Or will she have to, if Danielle finds out she’s pregnant? It’s almost February sweeps; we’d need some major revelation like that to boost ratings.
Speaking of the Van de Kamp kids, why is Andrew being such a goody-goody these days? Outside of his revelation that he tried to hook up with Austin by getting him drunk, he’s been on the sidelines, and now he’s working at Tom’s new pizza restaurant. I thought Marc Cherry would have the show’s gay character more front and center. Maybe he’s working out some major plotline. Even the gay character on “Brothers and Sisters” is hooking up with cater-waiters and soap opera stars (his love life is the only reason I check in on the show every once in a while).
I rarely like to check the previews for the next episode, but what’s with Orson and Alma in the same bed? From the way Orson looked, I’m guessing Alma drugged him and timed it for Bree’s arrival. Smart.
“Desperate Housewives” airs at 8 Sundays on ABC.
