Caliente Contest
Every year brings another entry
in the "Call of Duty" franchise.
We reviewed the newest game,
"Call of Duty: World at War" in
this week's issue of Caliente.

The games, which are most often
set during World War II, let
players revisit history.

The newest installment focuses
on the final battles of World War
II in the Pacific and Eastern
Europe.

In addition to testing your own
skill, the "Call of Duty" games are
also social endeavors. Players
from around the world can come
together as teams to take on all
comers.

Even though the new "Call of
Duty" is a solid effort, it doesn't
live up to last year's edition,
which updated the setting. What
was the title of the 2007 "Call of
Duty" game?

Those who answer correctly will
have a chance to win a kids DVD.
Titles include "Avatar," "Ben 10,"
"Bratz" and "SpongeBob
Squarepants."

'Desperate Housewives' -- Fun and games

I thought the most shocking thing about Sunday’s “Desperate Housewives” was that Mike woke up from his six-month coma and doesn’t remember the last two years. That he shunned Susan from his room because Edie told him about her extracurricular activities.

But the most shocking thing was seeing Bree and Andrew, spic-and-span after his trip to “drama camp,” sitting on the stairs having a heart-to-heart moment about bad parenting and choosing wrong over right. It was a sweet moment, well-written (probably by crator Marc Cherry, who said he’d handle the Andrew storyline) and well-acted. It was a nice transfer of power, now that Bree is on the outs with Danielle because she is having an affair with the history teacher.

Gaby and Carlos are having a lot of fun with their divorce proceedings. Carlos moved into the house, Gaby changed the locks, Gaby got put in jail for an hour then Carlos kicked Gaby out of the car after telling of her affair with John the Gardener. Fun stuff.

It seems that Nora is off somewhere with Tom’s daughter, so Lynette was stuck working on Parker’s baseball team. Still willing to bend the rules to help her family, she paid the star pitcher money to throw slower, then paid off the coach to keep Parker on the team. Kinda boring, though Felicity Huffman makes drinking coffee compelling.

By the way, the commercial for “Daybreak,” the show starring Taye Diggs that will take the place of “Lost” when it goes on vacation in the winter, was quite good. Diggs relives the same day over and over, and it happens to be the day his girlfriend dies. So he’s stuck trying to find out how to keep her alive the whole day, and, oh yeah, take lots of showers. I’m there.

“Desperate Housewives” airs at 8 Sundays on ABC.

Back
  1. I really liked most of the “Like it Was” episode.

The Carlos and Gabby divorce plotline is intense. The yard sale of
Carlos’ posessions was priceless, and when Carlos pulled Gabby out of
the car and left her on the roadside I was reminded of poor Andrew.
Do you think Gabby will go to John for refuge and try to break up his
relationship or will she sleep in a box like Andrew did?

How about that rear view of Carlos in his boxers after he moved back
in with Gabby and the housewives were visiting. I nearly died when
Carlos suggested he may have peed in the decaf coffee and they all
put thier coffee cups down in horror.

I feel sorry for poor Bree, with her manipulative gay son Andrew back
home and punishing her for abandoning him, her potentially murderous
new husband Orson, and her daughter sleeping with her history
teacher. Her hopes for a perfect family are far from realized. My
guess is that Orson will poison the pie she baked for the newly
awakened coma victim, Mike, who witnessed his crime.

Do you think Lynette and Tom’s son will turn out to be gay, or will
he will he become a straight Jock like they are hoping? What will
Tom’s dream career turn out to be?

Lastly, I am now amused by the coma plotline and I see that poor
Susan has reacted badly to the whole situation. What do you think
will happen two her two relationships now that Mike, the the first of the coma
victims has awakened and has been told that he did not love
Susan? Why did Susan simply walk away and accept his request that she
not return for another visit for a week? Will she split up with Ian anyway?

Where was Austin? I was hoping he would become a regular character on
    the series.
