Blockbuster members can rent the first episode of the new HBO vampire drama, “True Blood” for free before it even airs on Sunday.
In an effort to boost interest and woo some new subscribers, the channel and video rental chain have made a deal to stock copies of the series debut in stores across the country.
The Alan Ball project follows Sookie Stackhouse, a waitress in small-town Louisiana as she and the rest of the human population adapt to vampires coming “out of the coffin” to live among humans.
You can read a review of the series in Thursday’s Caliente and an interview with “True Blood’s” William Sanderson in next Sunday’s Accent.
The giant HBO logo was annoying, but the show was cool as hell. Now I’m going to have to subscribe to HBO… :-(

True Blood resembles Heroes at first glance (just rented the first episode from Blockbuster), though it still feels mostly original… for some reason this show makes me want to eat Cajun food and drink cheap beer
