News flying around everywhere

Like I said before, lots of things have been going on this weekend – so here is a secondary post to recap.

The big news in the Wildcat recruiting class is something that most people probably do not even have on their radar. No – it’s not the fact that Simi Kuli had a great time on his visit and has narrowed his choices to Oregon State and Arizona. Nor is it Brodrick Smith readying to make his decision in just a few hours. No, this has to do with perhaps the best prospect in the 2008 recruiting cycle. Matt Scott.

Scott’s season just ended last week after he participated in the prep season’s final bowl game – the Southern California bowl. The Inland team defeated the Coastal team 27-13, that is not where the big news comes from. Scott was injured when a Coastal defensive lineman landed on his ankle, causing what was originally diagnosed as a ‘high-ankle sprain.’ Later in the contest, Scott was reportedly seen on the sidelines with crutches. I have not yet been able to get in touch with the Scott’s for a more up-to-date diagnosis. Therein lies the beauty of a blog – when I hear more, I will post it.

Curtis McNeal – the USC commit and Darren Sproles look-a-like, reportedly enjoyed his visit, but is not ready to jump ship from the Trojans in favor of Arizona. Another running back target falls to the wayside. One has to look at what is still available at the running back position and wonder if this staff is going to fill that need in this class. Erin Madden could be one way this coaching staff could look as he, along with Anthony Bibbs appear to be the only other running backs that offers are out to. (Madden is listed as having an offer from UA on Scout.com but not Rivals.com)

Finally – Sean Renfree, touted as one of the top quarterbacks in the state has narrowed his choices to ASU and Duke – with the Blue Devils gaining a slight lead due to playing time and academic prestige. So either way, it looks like Renfree will be a Devil.. The real question is – Sun or Blue? He should be announcing soon as well.

  3. Renfree, we’re waiting for you son.

I question any kid’s sanity who would leave USC for UofA. that’s like leaving Jessica Alba for Rosie O’donnell.

  4. How do you narrow your choice to Duke and ASU? Really can their be two schools on further ends of the spectrum in academics, football, basketball, and class then these two?

  5. Renfree chose Duke for excellent academics that blow both ASU and UofA away. Not to mention, he’d be competiting with oh like six quality QB’s already waiting in line at ASU. Not to mention we have Elway in that mix too.

  6. Oh, and Renfree didn’t even take a look or consider playing at the football power down south called UofA.

  7. Six quality QBs at ASU? That’s a good one. How about you name three for us?

Is Rudy really the best of all six?

  8. When was the last time UA put a QB in the pros???

    NEVER

  9. You’re right Rudy is an average QB. And UA would kill to have him.

    3-0 vs UA

  10. What’s the source on Kuli’s decision to narrow it to AZ or OSU?

  11. I highly doubt that Johnny. Rudy is a me-first guy who likes himself a little bit too much. Somehow I think Erickson is counting the days until he doesn’t have to deal with this guy anymore. Look at what he’s done in big games. No, I don’t think the 3-0 record against UA has that much to do with him. Some guy named Dan White was also 4-0 against ASU in the 90s. Ever heard of him?
