Two men hiding out in the United States were sent back to Mexico to face charges and serve time for crimes they committed in that country.
Efren Martinez-Valencia, a resident alien of the U.S., was extradited earlier this month after he was arrested in Tucson on April 29 for an alleged homicide he committed in 2004 in Michoacan, Mexico, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Martinez-Valencia shot a man after they got into an argument about the price of a truck belonging to Martinez-Valencia, the press release stated.
The State of Michoacan issued a warrant for his arrest before he was arrested in Tucson.
Antonio Guillen-Alvarez, a U.S. citizen, was wanted by Mexican authorities to finish serving 10 years of a 12-year sentence for drug possession.
Guillen-Alvarez was arrested by Mexican federal agents in 1994 after he and two other individuals tried to use several suitcases to smuggle marijuana on board a plane in Colima, Mexico, the press release stated.
