Southern Arizona produced its most lucrative casher of the 2009 World Series of Poker Tuesday with Sahuarita resident Edwin Chang’s 37th place finish in a $2,000 No-Limit Hold’Em event.
Chang earned $9,715 for his effort. Had he outlasted one more person in the 1,534-player field, he’d have upped his payout to almost $12,000.
Through the first 32 events of the 57-tournament series, Tucson-area players have combined to cash for $77,935. That’s still less than half of 2008’s haul of $164,474.
