The Rev. Bill Kohler makes his way through the halls of Tucson Medical Center on his Segway, named “Billdozer” last Sunday. Kohler uses his Segway to cruise around TMC as part of his ministry with Pastoral Services. He also rides from his residence at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church two miles away. He’s had the Segway since mid-summer and said he receives many comments from people every day asking about it.

I was excited about this week’s segment because it seemed so different and interesting. Again, it was not in a traditional church setting, so I was attracted to it in that way. Just like the reverend who worked along the border, this was another example of how religion can be anywhere you want it.
It was inspiring to watch Kohler do his work that morning. He, along with everyone else at the hospital, really makes a difference in people’s lives. He just happens to be on a Segway when he does it.

  1. Fr. Bill does a lot more than serve people in the hospital. He has guided and served the pro-life community as a Priest For Life for years; his dedication and spirituality have always been an inspiration to all of us. God bless him and keep him Segwaying through his mortal life, so he can segue into his eternal life with that same zest and devotion to serving God’s people.

  2. Fr. Bill,

God bless you. Fr. Bill must cover the entire TMC campus including Palo Verde, the grounds cover a large area. Fr. Bill’s ministry to the ill here at TMC is his love. May he be able to glide through the halls for years to come.

  3. Fr. Bill came to St. Bartholomew Parish in San Manuel to say weekend Masses while our parish priest was on vacation. We were thankful we had such a good person with a great personality and a good homilist. He is enthusiasic about his religion. We thoroughly enjoyed his presents and would welcome him back anytime.
