Bravo to efilmcritic.com’s Erik Childress, who unleashed his annual expository tirade on the sick underbelly of the film criticism profession. Too many of the laudatory quotes on movie ads come from blurbmeisters striving to top one another with ridiculous, unwarranted praise.
The volume of the research in Childress’ piece merits a Pulitzer. No exaggeration. Credit Childress with helping to raise public awareness of one of the worst offenders, Pete Hammond, who was axed by Maxim, as reported by Radar Monday. Now maybe Maxim can hire on a critic with a little credibility.
