Coming to the big screen

The Longshots
— About a nerdy girl in pigtails named Jasmine who becomes “the first and only girl quarterback in Pop Warner football history.”

The Express
— OK, this is college sports, but it shows a little high-school recruiting. It takes place in 1957 at Syracuse University, where Ernie Davis became the first Black player to win the Heisman.

And on the small screen
A new reality TV show on The N called “Student Body” has boxer Laila Ali helping high-schoolers get in shape during the summer. Each of the participants has a serious talent, but, well, they’re fat. Could be inspirational, could just be a younger “Biggest Loser.”
The debut is Friday. On Comcast The N is 133. On Cox it’s 141.
