Some would-be Tucson Rodeo Parade attendees feel slighted

A reader wrote to me Wednesday to point out an oversight in the Sun Tran Rodeo Parade shuttles.

J. Carreras writes:
Per your article today in the Ariz Daily Star, re Rodeo Parade: Apparently, there is ‘no life’ on the south-west side of this city, in order to utilize public transportation to /from the parade. Confirmed with Sun Tran office this morning.

Visiting here from Washington state for the winter, we had looked forward to attending the parade, however, it makes no sense driving ( at >$3.00/gal for gas) from Valencia/Camino de la Tierra, all the way out to one of the mall pick up sites, in order to be driven back to the parade site, on Irvington.

Your article should have indicated that for those of us on the ‘no life’ side of the city, we were virtually SOL, & that there are no available parking areas near the site.

Disappointed & Angry
J.& A Carreras, Gig Harbor, WA”

I think his point will resonante with other south and southwest side residents. Another important note is that his complaint applies more broadly than simply for the Tucson Rodeo Parade, because lots of Sun Tran shuttles only pick up at the Tucson Mall and Park Place.
