Stolen bike registry could help you

Bike riders, buyers, sellers and fixers listen up!

A Web site developed to register stolen bicycles from around the country is picking up steam. The Stolen Bicycle Registry, in the interest of full disclosure, was developed by a friend of mine when he lived in Tucson and had several bikes stolen. The site allows people to register their own stolen bicycles in the hopes that used bike shops and other bike owners can assist in recovery.

BUT, don’t just take my word for it. The League of American Bicyclists is sharing the site in its monthly email newsletter, too.

Go to the site to register a stolen bike or to look up a bike to find out if its stolen. You can search by state, city (49 stolen Tucson bikes registered) zip code, bike brand or just search all registered bikes.

The point of the site is to get people to work together in recovering stolen bikes.
