Road projects back on track after feds run out of money

Six road projects in Arizona were going to be delayed because the Federal Highway Trust Fund ran out of money earlier this month. They were to be at least partially paid for with federal funding. Without that money, the state didn’t have enough to do them, according to state officials
But President Bush signed an $8 billion spending package yesterday that puts enough money back into the trust fund to last another year. The six Arizona projects are now back on track to get under construction in the next six months.
There’s only one Tucson-area project, and it’s for landscaping.
Here are the projects:
US 93 widening near Hoover Dam: $107 million
State Route 85 widening north of Gila Bend: $23.9 million
US 60 widening between Globe and Superior: $9.2 million
I-17 McGuireville interchange north of Camp Verde: $8.9 million
US 60 widening near Wickenburg: $5.6 million
I-10/I-19 interchange landscaping near Tucson: $4 million
