California’s new law requiring drivers to use hands-free devices while driving and talking on a cell phone went into effect this week. That means if you’re traveling west for the holiday, there’s likely to be some enforcement this weekend.
If you need to use your cell phone while driving in California, you have to use a hands-free device that allows you to keep both hands on the wheel.
This applies to drivers who are 18 and older. Those under 18 can’t use a cell phone while driving at all.
Star transportation reporter Andrea Kelly will use this space to post daily updates on I-10 lane and exit closures, as well as other snarl-inducing road work and closures.
