Irene McKisson

Gauge: 7 stitches/1 inch on U.S. 2s
Yarn: 20-30 yards of leftover sock yarn. I used Koigu and Lorna’s Laces
Needles: U.S. 2 double pointed needles

Directions:
• CO 36 stitches and divide evenly over 4 DPNs (CO 48 for a slightly larger sock).

(For picot edge)
• Knit 5 rows even.
• On next row: YO, K2TOG across row
• Knit 5 more rows even
• On next row: Fold knitting in half and knit each stitch together with the corresponding cast on stitch (making a picot hem)

• Begin 1×1 rib. Rib for 3 3/4 inches (4 1/4 if you aren’t doing the picot)
• Begin decreases (worked in stockinette):
• Knit to 3 stitches from end of first needle, K2TOG. SSK at beginning of Needle 2. Knit to last three stitches of Needle 3, K2TOG. SSK at beginning of Needle 4. Knit one row even.
• Repeat last two rows two more times.
• Put stitches on two needles and Kitchener up the bottom.

  1. I see you made a manly one and one for yourself. At last, what to do with those leftovers!

  3. I made one similar to this, but I used the toe-up sock method because I don’t like to do the Kitchener stitch. I really like the picot edgeing.
