Satire site pokes fun of everyone

There’s a new political blog in Arizona — and in the sea of partisan, hyper-sensitive dialogue out there, it’s a good way to get a quick laugh.

The Arizona Report is a satire site that pokes fun of pretty much everyone.

One recent posting stated:

“In response to a dramatic increase in bathroom accidents and poor aim, supporters from several immigration enforcement groups held a rally today on the lawn of the House of Representatives. The topic: the connection between bad restroom etiquette and illegal immigration.”

Playing up on the rumors surrounding Senate President Tim Bee resigning to run for Congress, another entry says:

“Bee announced his plans today to leave the Arizona State Senate following the close of the 2007 legislative session. Bee will turn his focus to the 2010 Congressional District 8 race where he hopes to face the winner of the 2008 Congressional race between Democrat Incumbent Gabrielle Giffords and an unknown Republican Candidate.

When asked about his plans for the future, Bee replied, “One year is simply not enough time out of the limelight of the Senate President’s job. I want to make sure that I am out of the newspapers for a good 3 years before I take a run at the office.”

I guess it’s kind of like “The Onion” for Arizona. Even GOP chairman Randy Pullen understands the humor. In a newsletter column to Republican this week, Pullen references the blog, saying, “If we can’t laugh at ourselves, we’re taking it all too seriously.”
