Amid all the hullaballoo surrounding this weekend’s release of the comic-book-inspired film “Iron Man,” defense giant Raytheon has popped up to point out that it is working on a similar real-life machine.
Raytheon’s robotic suit, created by the Raytheon Sarcos division in Salt Lake City, is a robotic “exoskeleton” for the U.S. Army that “will give its wearer greater strength, endurance and agility.”
Raytheon’s suit, which the company describes as “a combination of sensors, actuators and controllers all packaged in a futuristic design,” is featured prominently in the May 2008 cover story of Popular Science.
You can find Raytheon’s media page on the exoskeleton, including video highlights, here.
