Mayor proclaims "Public Relations Appreciation Day"...

Now this is really laying down the red carpet.
The Public Relations Society of America’s Western District is holding a conference on Thursday and Friday at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa.
So Tucson Mayor Bob Walkup has proclaimed Friday “Public Relations Appreciation Day” to “encourage all of our citizens to support, understand, and appreciate the intricacies of the practice of ethical public relations and public relations practitioners,” a press release said.
The conference theme is “Discovering New Frontiers in PR” and will include topics such as PR across geographic borders, PR and the world of social media, and Hispanic media trends. A keynote address will be delivered by Blain Baggett, a communications professional for NASA.
I wonder if this means every conference will get an appreciation day. Too bad the annual Waste Management Symposium moved to Phoenix this year. I would have enjoyed reading a press release announcing a “Radioactive Waste Managers Appreciation Day.”
