BBB reports elders getting pushy calls from shady company

10/11/2007 03:15 PM
Becky Pallack

The BBB of Southern Arizona is following up on this case, but I thought you should know about it now.

One of the local BBB staffers received two phone calls today requesting information about a company called “U.S. Medical Office” that had called elders with a pitch.

A salesperson says, “you need to buy a new card for your Medicare coverage. If you do not, Medicare will no longer cover your bills.”

Both elders who called the BBB had refused the service, but the salesperson called back “time and time again,” according to the BBB.

The business is supposed to be based out of New York, but a BBB specialist couldn’t find any public information about them.

If you get a call like this, you might consider letting the BBB know by calling 888-6161. And you might want to warn your elderly loved ones.
