Not surprisingly, the “winner” is AIG – American International Group Inc.
The insurance giant that blasted through billions in taxpayer dollars like a 10-year-old pummels through quarters at an arcade beat out Comcast for the title.
You may remember Comcast as the cable company that gave Tucson five minutes in the national spotlight by briefly airing a graphic porn clip during the Superbowl. (Granted the porn fiasco alone probably wasn’t enough to get Comcast such an illustrious title, apparently customers have some other problems.)
The Consumerist, an advocacy Web site where “consumers bite back,” held the vote-based competition. To get to the final round AIG beat Target, Wal-Mart and Ticketmaster, while Comcast defeated DirecTV, Capital One and Bank of America.
It’s worth noting that Comcast made it to the final round last year, but it got beat by none other than infamous troubled mortgage lender Countrywide, now part of Bank of America. You gotta admit, Comcast held its own against some stiff competition.
