Foreclosed? Moving? This company has a bailout plan for you

You can’t make this stuff up. This is the actual headline from a press release that hit my mailbox a little while ago:

Moving Box Company Offers Own Bailout Plan: Free Moving Boxes.

They’re not kidding — and it gets better.

Los Angeles-based UsedCardboardBoxes.com is offering one free, earth-friendly moving kit from now until Election Day to any U.S. homeowner who has just lost a home to foreclosure.

Hey, it’s not Mother Earth’s fault you couldn’t pay the mortgage. No need to be an eco-villain just because you’re suddenly homeless.

The Starter Moving Kit has a $38 value but foreclosed homeowners would be required to pay only for shipping. Each starter kit includes 17 quality used boxes and new supplies:

  • 9 medium used boxes
  • 5 large used boxes
  • 2 extra-large used boxes
  • 1 roll of new packing tape
  • 3 lb. of new packing paper
  • 1 permanent marker
  • 1 new retractable-blade box cutter

The company says any U.S. residents being forced out of their homes due to foreclosure can contact the corporate office at 323-724-2500 to provide proof of foreclosure and receive their free kit, with delivery guaranteed in 1-2 business days.

Presumably, despite their “used” label, these boxes are all “hobo not included.” Or maybe those two extra-large boxes can be your new master suite.

  1. Thats definitely an interesting approach.:-)My mom was a recent victim of this lovely economy, and has had to move in with us. I wish we would have known about this usedcardboardboxes.com thing before. Would have saved me a lot of money, that’s for sure. Kudos to them.
