Walk In Peace-Enjoy a safe and happy Halloween
Alan Dankwerth 52 weeks ago

It's October already, and Halloween will soon be upon us. It should be an enjoyable day for our children but it also is one which provides an excellent opportunity for molesters to strike.
Many parents are extremely uncomfortable discussing the subject of predators and sexual abuse with their children but if you don't, your child may have the misfortune of "learning" about it from the predator himself.
Please establish a firm set of rules with your children which, if followed, will help them to have a safe time at "trick or treat".
*Where possible, have them go out during daylight hours.
*Have them stay together as a group when going out to trick or treat without an adult.
*Set a time for them to return home.
*Tell them NOT to cut through back alleys, yards or fields, but stay on sidewalks and in well-lighted areas.
*Stop only at homes in your own neighborhood unless accompanied by an adult.
*NEVER approach a house that is not well-lighted or doesn't have an outside light on.
*Small children should NEVER be allowed to go trick or treat alone. Make certain than an older sibling or adult, known to you, is with them.
*Tell your children NEVER to go into the home of a stranger or get into their car. Instruct them to scream and make a scene if anyone tries to grab or force them to go with them.
*Run away from people who try to entice them with "special treats".
*Tell your children NOT to eat any treats until they are examined by you. Dispose of anything which appears to have been tampered with or opened or is not wrapped.

Ensure that your children have a fun time and great memories of this Halloween!
