Tucson Youth Week! Nominate a Youth.
Lauren Shebuski 87 weeks ago

Olivia is a 15-year-old high school student. She hasn’t secured any scholarships to Ivy League Schools. She hasn’t recently saved any lives or started any world peace organizations. However, she has an important role in our community. Olivia often takes the bus to the Volunteer Center of Southern Arizona after school and has dedicated many hours to community service projects. After she completed an HIV Peer Education program, she returned the following year to act as a mentor to the youth currently going through the program. Olivia is one of thousands of youth in Tucson who too often go unrecognized for the positive difference they make.

Every Voice in Action Foundation announces a call for nominations of young people ages 12-21, to recognize the extraordinary impact that youth can and do have on our community.

As a part of Tucson Youth Week, we wish to recognize over 1,000 youth in Tucson, not just for their high-profile achievements, but also for the positive contributions that the majority of youth make every day – anything from babysitting younger siblings to helping a classmate to volunteerism. Anybody can nominate a young person, including their parents, a friend or even themselves. We want to make this the largest Youth Recognition Event Tucson has ever seen, so nominate as many youth as you'd like! This is a non-competitive process, so all youth nominated will be recognized.

To nominate a youth, fill out the nomination form by hand or online at www.tucsonyouthweek.com. The nomination form is very brief – contact information for both nominee and nominator, and a brief description of the positive contribution that the youth has made.

Every nominee will be recognized during Tucson Youth Week’s Community Youth Recognition Event on Saturday, April 21st in Himmel Park. In addition, every youth nominated will be given the opportunity to design a small tile to be included in a Community Message Board, unveiled at the event on the 21st and displayed around Tucson for months afterward. They will also receive a program listing all 1,000+ nominees.
