Hi Barb,
I am thinking of moving to Sahuarita and on Tuesday I went and looked at some land in the Quiet Ranchs area. I love that area. Can you tell me what you know about the new development (Some 4,000 acres-15k homes) in the QRanches area that I hear is being developed by a Nevada Contractor.
Is this going to happen? I heard they are trying to zone this to 3 homes per acre and they just had a town meeting? whats the word? How soon if at all will they break ground and just exactly what will it be. I am trying to find an area that has some breathing room.
thanks\

Hi Tony,
Thanks for the question. A company in Nevada does own land west of the mines, near Mission Road, between Duval Mine Road and Sahuarita (Helmet Peak) Road. It is the Town's understanding that the developers are planning to build around 15,000 homes. This land is currently in Pima County, out of Town limits, but the Town is anticipating a General Plan amendment application by May of this year, which would be the first step toward the Town possibly annexing this area. The amendment would go to the Planning & Zoning Commission, then the Town Council, which will provide time for public opportunity and comment on the proposal. There are several steps after the General Plan amendment before construction can begin and it is my understanding that the project is still 4-5 years out from the start of construction.
Hope that helps,
Barb
Hi Tony, You might want to check out some of the non developer land available in the Sahuarita area. There is some acreage available.
