Howdy folks and fellow Sahuaritans! Let me introduce myself...my name is James Mulkins and it sure is nice to live here in Sahuarita.
I'm here to write about the people, places and things that make this town special. My reason is simple. We need to celebrate our town and show the world how good we have it here. Sahuarita really is a cool place to live. (Except during the summer, right? - Sorry, I couldn't resist). I believe that we Sahuaritans have a good thing going.
About the only problem I seem to have over and over again is trying to explain to strangers where I live. When I tell people that I live in Sahuarita the varied reactions I receive from them are, at best, bewildering, "Sawa-what?"
"Saaa-Huaaa-Rheee-Taahh, Sir!" is usually my response.
As you can see, the reactions are really quite comical but, to me, they are also a bit alarming. People out there just do not have a clue about what Sahuarita is. Mark my word here folks; I have a feeling that is all about to change.
Word has it that we are all sitting on a small town ready to explode. Do you believe that? Super Wal-Mart is now here, Walgreens is coming, and I have even heard some whispers of the Applebee's Corporation looking at a corner lot somewhere in town. (You did not hear that from me, OK?)
Regardless of the rumors, only time will tell us all where this town is headed. Sure, there are always a few stuffy issues we face as a booming town, and although those issues are interesting, it is our history, variety, and, most importantly, the people, places, and things that pique my interest. The social dynamic of this town is what I seek! Just stop and take a close look around this town of Sahuarita and you will be sure to find some very interesting things happening. Things that just aren't quite the same as most other towns.
For instance, what is that half completed skeleton-of-a building fenced-off and located next to Taco Bell at the Duval Mine exit? Is it a red-iron dinosaur? It looks somewhat like a modern-day ghost town with the proverbial tumbleweeds and all. Some say it was a full-service a car wash project that was never completed. So, if it is a car wash that is not yet completed, what's the hold up and whose venture was it? I'm sure a lot of us would want to know the facts, right? Not to mention the fact that my vehicle could use a good local full-service cleaning. Tire dressing and all. Will it ever come to fruition? I will see what I can find out -that is why I am here folks!
What about the new fitness center going in at the Safeway complex? (You know, the Safeway that gave Sahuarita its first Starbucks, grocery store, and gasoline service all in one stop?) What are the owners of this new fitness center like and what are their plans for the future? Is this a place for the ladies only? If so, can the guys watch and wait for their significant others or will they have to wait outside peering in through the plate glass windows with their hands cupped around their wide eyes?
This is important stuff, folks! These may all be questions that you may want to know about but just never get the opportunity to discover on your own.
So, come with me folks, whether you have lived here for seven days or seven decades, let us all share the information that we need to find the Who, the What, and Why's of Sahuarita. We may just find the answers to the obscure questions about something or someone in Sahuarita that have plagued us at one time or another
Really, my main mission here is to meet and introduce you to the dynamic and diverse bouquet of people that give this town its soul. Let us just say that it's my duty as a member of this community. Community service-if you will. Should you have any information for me, by all means, post up and let's all talk about it.
That goes for questions as well. Do you have something that just has to be answered? My mission is to try to the best of my ability to get them answered! Do you have someone out there that just HAS to be profiled on SahuaritaStar.com? Let me know. This is what community interaction is all about, correct?
Until next postings?
Good times, Andrew. There are things goin on here. We just need to look around! Stir it up a bit!
Hi James, I enjoyed reading your blog! I accept your challenge: let's get your questions answered, tell the world about Sahuarita and meet some other fun people that are out there in the Town. BTW, your friendly Town staff can help clear up some of the questions your brought up! :)
Hi James, I loved your blog, your writing style is really a joy to read. Yes, I would die without a Starbucks here...my world would become perfect with an addition of a Borders or Barnes and Noble with a Starbucks coffee shop included ;-)
A question I would like to have it answered is: Is there any childcare/child development center in Sahuarita? Keep in touch!
Mona, you can start a new blog topic with the title 'Where can I leave my kid?' and just ask the question ' Is there any childcare/child development center in Sahuarita?' in the body. Tag it 'childcare' and voila, you have started a new thread on the topic...
Mona,
Wow, Thanks for the Compliments!
MMMMM Starbucks is life. You said the magic word! If only they had a WiFi Hook-up there..: )
There really isn't a lot of childcare in Sahuarita. Just the private folks who do it from home. There are two in Green Valley that come to mind. the first is strictly childcare with education as a sublet. Then there is Los Ninos Del Valle. An all-out Pre School. I believe that they take 2 year-olds and up. This place is pretty neat. There is a pretty big waiting list to get in but it may be worth trying. You should really take the time to go have a tour of thier facility. It's pretty impressive. If you want tmore info, LMK.
James
Hi James, glad to have you on board. Can't wait to see what schnanigans you dig up!
