So for the first four days of the world cup, there were surprises and disappointments. Brazil won from Croacia 1×0, shooting sharply to each other except to the goal, Croacians were agressive but were disorganized.
Americans lost a terrible shameful loss, to the Czech Republic! 3×0 to the republic. The American team was too slow and were playing out of synch between its teamates.
Tunisia and Saudi Arabia had a weak game and ended up 2×2. I guess they understand each other's game, even in the field.
I think the best team I have seen playing so far was Italy, they have very fast players and Spain, a surprise this time.
Iran lost to Mexico...that game was a party!
There is the Serbia-Montenegro team that just a week ago the region voted to become independent countries...but in this world cup, it is one team playing together. Interesting!
Sunday, from what I see in the schedule has good games, just need to wake up early!
Here at home, I watch the games-alone-and one time I screamed loudly while feeding my child that he cried...I remember now, this world cup, I am also a mommy, gotta watch my outbursts!
Back in Brazil, my brother was working while listening to the game in his radio. He said Sao Paulo's streets looked like a ghost town on a weekday. We talked about back in the days when all of us cheered the teams together in 1994's world cup. Those were sweet, carefree days!
Sunday, I will be ready with my yellow and green soccer team shirt, my kids will be wearing yellow and green soccer clothing...along with my Brazilian and American friends ;-)
Have a great weekend everyone!
Hi Andrew,
I agree with you, it was not Brazil's best performance, every Brazilian agreed with that view. It is a bad habit that Brazilians have in every world cup, if they view that the opponent is weak, they too put their guard down...that has costed Brazilians various losses in the past.
Ronaldo and Joao Carlos looked tired in the game, I have seen better.
And seems like Argentina is coming with fire, today it made 6 goals against Serbia and Montenegro...future will tell if it was really Argentina's strength or not.
I read the link that you posted about American's reaction to the loss, I was quite surprised to read about it!
Saturday is the big day...US vs. Italy!
The Soccer world-championship is again and again full of surprises. Whoever see times this he/it once " Happy winner becomes "
Mona, I have to say I wasn't too impressed with your Brazil in their first game, but since they were playing a weaker opponent I can see how they might have let their guard down a little. So far I like the Czechs and the Germans, although ultimately the Cup will go to.. Argentina! That's right, South America will be victorious but sadly it won't be your Reynaldo and Juan Carlos bringing home the glory.
And apparently you're not the only one who was appalled by the US's devastating loss to the CZ. Click to read about how hard the rest of the country took the loss :)
