Day 3 at Nationals
Susan Elsberry 129 weeks ago

Colin Elsberry. Well I didn’t make it into the Finals and I was disappointed. I still don’t feel any better about that, but we spent the rest of the day touring the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. I forgot they had Space Ship One after it won the competition for a private enterprise sponsored spacecraft. You walk right in and there it is. The Museum was wonderful, and free. They are all free, Smithsonian’s, and there are so many of them. After a short break at the hotel, we went on the Twilight Tour of the Monuments with the Sierra Vista group. The guide said it would be a 3 hour tour, but it was 4 hours and 15 minutes. My favorite was the Lincoln Memorial with the Martin Luther King inscription on the steps where he stood and gave his Freedom Speech. Everything looked so beautiful at night illuminated. This is a very civilized city. We got back to the hotel after midnight taking the last Metro running and it wasn’t scary at all. I wish we had the Metro in Tucson. I took a lot of pictures and will download them later. Taxis are weird; Susan keeps saying they used to be Checkered and exciting but I don’t believe her. Bye.

Colin,

We are sorry you didn't make it to the finals - but you are the big winner to all of us!

Try to get to the Museum of American History - I LOVE the First Ladies dress exhibit (ok - maybe that won't be your favorite - but there are many other great things there).

Miss you!
